In Science, we learn about the elements on the Periodic Table. Elements such as: magnesium, potassium, and calcium are considered essential for life. There’s one problem, something is missing! The elements listed above are crucial for a healthy and sustainable life, but we invite you for a minute to consider what are those essential elements for students to experience not only job and career success, but success for life. Eighty percent of employers say that workers do not have the necessary soft skills. The essential elements missing in students’ lives today are Soft Skills, sometimes referred to as Life Skills.
If Soft Skills were an element on the Periodic Table, they would likely align with the Noble Gases. Noble Gases, the most stable of elements, rarely react with other elements since they are already stable. If Soft Skills were an element on the Periodic Table, you might see their name listed as “Softskillium” and like many elements that take part in chemical reactions, students who demonstrate strong soft skills take part in social interactions and do so safely and in a manner that brings them success. The idea that Soft Skills would fall under the Noble Gases, to play with words, would suggest a sense of nobility or something good. Microburst Learning’s EmployABILITY Soft Skills® are noble and the essential elements are proven to change student behavior.
